Genetics of adaptation: a dialog between quantitative genetics and population genomic

Résumé

Trying to understand the dynamics of adaptive systems, and especially to disentangle the interplay between environment, phenotype and genotype, is a difficult endeavour. It requires integrating different biological levels and factors, appropriate experimental approaches and tailored statistical modelling.

Based on my previous work on various aspects of adaptation and its genetic basis, I will highlight some challenges in the field, especially regarding the radically different assumptions underlying quantitative genetics and population genomics. I will illustrate some ways we can make these approaches “collaborate” better.
